The Sixth Day: Creatures on Land was exhibited at the Bett Gallery in may 2014 as part of the Bett Gallery Honours award. The works articulate the divine forms of neo-classical and Baroque painters, investigating the transition of banal to sacred.
The Bett Gallery Graduate Award is designed to give the recipient the opportunity to experience exhibiting in a first class commercial contemporary art gallery. The award is judged yearly in collaboration with the Tasmanian College of the Arts, and awarded when one student shows a particularly high standard of work, imagination and determination.
Amongst other things the winner receives curatorial support and mentorship, significant local and national exposure and the opportunity to launch their career in one of Australia’s most established commercial galleries.

It's important to be able to visualise not just a strong composition, but how the design elements will be integrated into an image. Years of working with graphic and web designers position Jack well for these important considerations.

The ritual of marriage is one of the few spiritual and culture traditions still almost universally practiced in contemporary Australia. Documenting the process is now regarded as essential. The photographs are witness, memory and affirmation.
There is no second chance when choosing a photographer so make sure you get on well. Asking them to do something they usually don't won't serve you or them. Consider how the pictures will age, flashy stylisation thats currently in vogue may date faster then a simple approach. Good luck!
The Baroque was a period of artistic stylisation that came to prominence in 17th century Rome. The Baroque artists were drawn to exuberance, drama, darkness and grit. Supported by the powerful Roman Catholic church, artist like Caravaggio depicted violence , sexuality and importantly brought to life religious narratives in emotive and engaging ways. This body of photographic work taps into the dark of Tasmanian winters, political dialogues around sexuality and new expressions of opulence and religious practice.
UnderwaterHhockey and Underwater Rugby are young sports that see players performing rigorous aerobic exercise during Apnea. Australia is among the top nations in the world for underwater hockey, winning more world championships then any other nation in both the men and women's divisions.
The imagery that surrounds the Roman goddess Venus usually depicts, like Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus, the moment when the divine being emerges from a sea-shell as a fully formed female figure. The myth itself actually has a much more interesting beginning; Saturn, god of agriculture and fertility castrates his father, the supreme sky god, Caelus, and casts his genitals into the sea. There, in the great foaming turmoil of the ocean the potent male and female energies mix resulting in Venus, goddess of love. Violence, sex and poetry in crashing waves. This series is ongoing and yet to be exhibited, stay tuned for dates and development.

Architectural photography requires a kind of tempered creativity and is ultimately a collaborative and involved process. The balance between imposing a vision and representing the architects intentions must be carefully struck.
Powerlifting comprises three simple actions, the squat, deadlift and benchpress. Your total weight from three successful lifts is your overall score. Although easily understood the sport sees people pushing themselves to the absolute physical limit of the human body, tendons ripped off bones and lifters loosing consciousness during a meet is not uncommon. For all the bravado surrounding the scene lifters are incredibly supportive of one another. See Wayne Howlett for more.
