The Baroque was a period of artistic stylisation that came to prominence in 17th century Rome. The Baroque artists were drawn to exuberance, drama, darkness and grit. Supported by the powerful Roman Catholic church, artist like Caravaggio depicted violence , sexuality and importantly brought to life religious narratives in emotive and engaging ways. This body of photographic work taps into the dark of Tasmanian winters, political dialogues around sexuality and new expressions of opulence and religious practice.
